And yes, I picked my own English name Will since that Will make a perfect pun -- Will Yu(You) read my website?

I am currently a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. Before coming to Penn in 2023, I completed my B.A. in both Philosophy and History at the University of Arizona.

My primary research interests are in social and political philosophy(broadly construed). I'm particularly interested in the interplay of colonialism, imperialism, nationalism, internationalism, and freedom. I also have a strong interest in PPE, and philosophical methodology. For my research, I aim to take an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on a diverse set of philosophical traditions(both analytic and continental/critical theory) and empirical disciplines, with a special focus on history, sociology, moral psychology, and political science.

I was born and raised in Chongqing, a city known for its great night views and spicy food. I then went to high school in Des Moines, Iowa. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my cats, traveling to famous historical sites, reading manga, playing video games and board games/DnD, and collecting and assembling miniatures and models.
